A True Hemp Pioneer

  • 1990: Chris is recognized as the first hemp farmer in America 1994. The cofounder of the hemp industry.
  • 1991: Founded The Hempstead Company, one of the first U.S.
    hemp clothing and seed businesses with products sold in 4,000 stores across six countries. His notable clients included Converse, Disney Stores, The Beatles, The Dave Matthews Band, Phish, and others.
  •  1992: He Co-founded the Hemp Industries Association (HIA),
    which remains active today.
  • 1994: Legally grew the first hemp research field in the U.S.
    at the USDA Center in Brawley, CA, documented by CNN.
  •  1995-96: Drafted the first U.S. hemp legislation in California and Colorado, leading to the first hemp agricultural laws in these
    states and US.
  •  1997: Largest importer of hemp seed oil in USA First mover.
  • 2000: Legalizing the first Native American hemp laws in USA on reservations, with the Navajo Nation in Arizona.
  • 2004: Won the HIA vs DEA Lawsuit 9th Court of Appeals stops DEA from
    outlawing hemp seeds oil and foods.
  • 2012: He Co-authored the legal opinion “Hemp CBD is Legal in All 50 States,” enabling the import and distribution of hemp CBD oil in the U.S. before domestic cultivation was legalized. He co-founded early U.S. hemp CBD companies, including US Hemp Oil, Hemp Meds, and Cannavest Corp (later CV Sciences).
  • 2012-2013: Oversaw the importation of over 10,000 kg of CBD oil from Europe and managed 1,000 hectares of hemp CBD production in Europe at
    CV Sciences.
  • Interviews & Public Speaking: Featured on over 150 radio
    stations, several podcasts, and is a sought-after speaker at trade shows and hemp events nationwide.
